Nelson was born March 5, 1936, in Dallas, Texas to parents George Franklin Fox and Mary Odessa Nelson.
As a teen, Nelson worked as an usher at the historic Texas Theater in downtown Dallas. He later worked at Transport Holdings, where he met Wanda, who would become the love of his life.
Nelson served overseas in the Army and was stationed primarily in Germany, but he also visited London and Paris among other places during that time. After leaving the Army, he went on to work as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, where he served for 22 years before retiring.
Nelson and Wanda were married on October 14, 1961. Wanda introduced Nelson to Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, which would become his second home and family. Nelson faithfully served his church family as Head Usher and Custodian for as long as his health allowed. He took great pride in making sure the church was always meticulously clean and comfortable for all services and activities.
In his spare time, Nelson was an avid reader and coin collector. He loved Southern Gospel music, Westerns, skyscrapers, and world records. Nelson spent his life in service to others through each of his jobs and many years of service at the church. He was a man of great stature and heart, that will be missed by many.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.laurellanddallas.com for the Fox family.
