Jack Baty, 91, of Dallas, Texas, was called to his heavenly home on April 9, 2015. In his rebirth, he joined his parents, his beloved wife Dorothy, his children Sherie and Christopher Baty, and his son-in-law Peter Gifford.
Jack was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 11, 1923, to parents, Hugh and Helen Baty. He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1945. He worked at Southern Union Gas Company after graduation and later at General American Oil Company from 1957 to 1982 when he retired. Jack had an impeccable memory and could recount wonderful stories from his childhood and from his times spent with Dorothy raising eight children. He was a family man who enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboy football games and his favorite team, the Texas Rangers. Up until a few months before his passing, he was a veracious reader and could talk about any subject. Most importantly, though, Jack was a man of unfaltering faith, kindness, and compassion, who emulated all of the Lord’s teachings in everything he did. He will be remembered for his love, dedication and faithfulness to Dorothy and his caring, compassion and understanding to his children and grandchildren. Jack leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and unrelenting faith to his family. Beloved, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his children; Diane Gifford, Jack (Mary) Baty, Nanette Cheval, Michael Baty, Sally (Kenneth) Capps, and Stephanie Baty; Grandchildren, Katherine Gifford, Julie Gifford Davis, Lauren Gifford, Samantha Gifford Canonico, Joshua Gifford, Michele Gifford, Brandon Baty, Lauren Baty Adams, Jeffrey Baty, Patrick Cash, Christy Briggs, Jessica Baty, Haley Davidson, Bryan Austin, Whitney Capps, and Justin Capps; and numerous other great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at 9:30a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood Ave, Dallas, TX 75214. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by very Rev. John Libone at 10:30a.m. Entombment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
