James Richard Curry died August 3, 2012. He was born September 16, 1922 in Wirt, Oklahoma. He graduated from Kilgore High School, Kilgore College and Texas A&M University with degrees in Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering. While serving in the 60th Signal Service Company (ASA) during WWII he attended The University of West Virginia for a year. Mr. Curry worked for Shell Oil Company for twelve years and retired from DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 1989 after thirty years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Carter and Susan Frances Henson Curry; wife Veronica Beckelhymer Curry; and son Richard Carter Curry. He is survived by his children Jennie and James Curry of Dallas, Texas, Susan Curry of Gardner, Kansas; grandchildren Kenna Curry of Dallas, Texas, Sutton Karr of Gardner, Kansas, Spenser Karr of New Orleans, Louisiana; present wife Martha Kirkley Curry; Cairn Terrier Armstrong; sisters Jo Seavey of Orlando, Florida, Helen Yates of Nacogdoches, Texas, Mary Hart of Pembroke Pines, Florida; brother Don and Kathy Curry of Houston, Texas. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, Texas 75225 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
