James Boyd Queen, 91, of Dallas Texas, passed away peacefully on Dec 25, 2014. Boyd was a lifelong resident of the Lakewood area of Dallas. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in the class of ’41, he later attended SMU where he was a member of the Mustang Band and ATO fraternity. He graduated in 1947 with a degree in business administration.
His education was interrupted by World War II where he served in the United States Army with the rank of corporal. During his training, he met his future wife, Bettie Walker of Irving, Texas. They married in 1945 and started their life together in Dallas.
Boyd was a lifetime member of East Dallas Christian Church where he served as deacon, elder, board member, financial advisor, and member of the Sanders Class.
A certified public accountant, he founded the firm of Queen, Biel, and Fisette which he led until his retirement in 1988. He was active during his life in Park Cities Lions Club, serving as president 1972-1973.
Boyd was proudest of his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Bettie Walker Queen, three sons, Bruce, Bob, and Brian Queen and daughters in law, Sally, Patsy, and Karen; five grandchildren Heather, Chris, Allison, Michelle, and Melissa; and four great grandchildren, Lauren, Lexie, Courtney, and Justin.
A memorial service and reception will be held on Dec. 30 at 11:00 am at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 N. Peak St., Dallas. Viewing will be at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy on December 29, 5-7pm.
