James Norman Russell

James Norman Russell, Jimmy, was born January 4, 1950 in Waverly, Iowa and left this earth on December 8, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He graduated from David W. Carter high school in Dallas, Texas in 1968. On August 6, 1971, he married the love of his life, Patricia (Patty) Scott at Wheatland United Methodist Church in Dallas.

Jimmy had a love of life and a passion for teaching and Volkswagens. He graduated from The University of Texas in Arlington with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1973. He worked as an ASE certified Master Mechanic for many years and taught automotive repair at Lincoln College of Technology until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph James “Jim” Russell and Genevieve May Norman Russell, a wonderful step-mother, Pauline Armstrong Russell, father in law, Elder Grant Scott, and mother in law Oleta “Joyce” Sikes Scott.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Joyce “Patty” Scott Russell; son and daughter in law, James Scott and Jessa Russell; daughter and son in law, Katherine Joyce "Kathy" and Daniel Herring; grandson, Tobin Russell; granddaughter, Rylee Russell; brother in law and sister in law, John and Selena Schniederjan; brother in law and sister in law, Dennis and Vivian Scott; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
