Born September 9, 1954 in Dallas, Texas, he made a career as a general contractor. James was very proud of James Thornell and associates. His company took care of thousands of grateful customers over many years. Everyone felt safer because James was in the world.
It is impossible to adequately describe this colorful, funny and sweet man. James was everyone's friend, and he had a rare gift for making those around him smile and laugh. Incredibly generous and thoughtful-he always tried to bring joy to others.
James was a true Texan and loved the outdoors. Hunting with long-time friends in West Texas was his passion, and he looked forward each year to travel plans for the next elk hunt.
Family brought him his greatest joy. He is survived by daughters Christy Deice and Amanda Hine, son Michael Thornell, daughter Deidre Thornell, son Parker Thornell, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister Cynthia Joyner, numerous other family members and devoted partner Sheryl Stephens along with her sons, Elliot, Cary and Duncan Jones.
A celebration of life was held with family and those closest to him.
