Jane is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Marvin Thomas Braddock, her parents Elzer and Mae Winchester Harwell and her sister Marilyn Harwell Lepore. She is survived by daughters Susan Lynn Braddock of Dallas, TX; Becky Braddock Francis of Stamping Ground, KY; and Nancy Braddock Laughlin and her husband Brian of Dallas, TX; son Thomas Gregory Braddock and his wife Rhonda of Birmingham, AL; grandsons Daniel Marvin Francis of Lexington, KY and Thomas Evan Braddock and his wife Lynnsey of Winston-Salem, NC, and grand-stepdaughter Elizabeth Laughlin Wood and her husband Nathaniel of Dallas, TX.
Jane was born in San Diego, CA, where she loved going to the beach and mountains with her friends and family. She graduated from Sweetwater High School and San Diego State College, where she earned a degree in Education and was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. She became a teacher and taught first grade in San Diego, CA and El Paso, TX, until she decided to dedicate her life to her children and grandchildren. She relocated with her family to Dallas, TX in 1972 for Marvin’s career opportunity. They later retired to Horseshoe Bay, TX. Jane was a dear friend to many in San Diego, Dallas, and Horseshoe Bay.
Jane’s most important legacy is she was a generous and loving mother and grandmother who cherished every moment with her family and put them foremost in her life. Her family was always her main priority. Jane believed that travel is both a fun and an educational experience, so she and Marvin took their children and grandchildren on many trips primarily throughout the United States. They rarely passed a historical marker without Jane insisting that the family stop and learn what it was all about.
Jane and Marvin enjoyed playing bridge and also traveled extensively around the world as a couple and with friends. They appreciated the opportunity to forge many long and lasting relationships through their travels.
A private family service will be held at the Horseshoe Bay Mausoleum in Horseshoe Bay, TX.
The family requests that any memorial donations be made to a charity of your choosing in her honor.
