Jesse Tafalla Jr.

Jesse Tafalla Jr., age 60, passed away on June 6th, 2023 at Baylor Hospital, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on September 3, 1962, to Jesse and Nellie Tafalla and raised in Far East Dallas. He graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1981 while also attending the Law Magnet in downtown Dallas from 1979 to 1981 with honors. After high school, Jesse worked for IBM for 20+ years and worked for DART for the past 10+ years.

In his free time, Jesse enjoyed travelling, going to the movies, working and attending local plays and musicals, supporting local arts, and working with local organizations to help make changes for the betterment of his community and beliefs. Jesse will always be remembered for his vibrant spirit, dedication, and his activism in local Arts and Civil affairs, especially his work with the LGBTQ+ community.

Jesse Jr. is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Tafalla, grandparents, and many beloved uncles and aunts.

He is survived by his mother, Nellie Tafalla and her husband Alex Escamilla, his siblings, Louis and Shary Tafalla, Rosie and Joe Bersterman, Terry and Rick Pearson, and Jose and Weena Tafalla. Also, survived by his nieces, Stephanie and Victoria Bersterman, Deserea, Destinee, Julie and Judie Smith and nephew, Luca Tafalla, his great nephews, Anthony Bedolla, Anthony Nichol, Ian Hall, Kinsler Farmer, Edwardo Contreras, and great nieces, Ciarra Noriega-Smith, Lexi Landry, Aubrey Vasquez and Macie Vasquez.

Jesse Jr., the first nephew was honored and loved by the amazing Tia's and Tio's from both the Tafalla and Hernandez family.

Jesse Jr. was a supporter and board member of many organizations, such as:

Rest In Peace, Jesse Tafalla Jr.

A visitation for Jesse will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. A rosary will occur Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. A mass of christian burial will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 0980 - Calvary Hill North Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220. An interment will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220.
