

Joe E. Grubbs, Sr. was born Sept 10, 1918 in Crandall, Texas; died August 1, 2010 in Dallas, TX. He was a pioneer who moved to the Casa Linda/White Rock area in 1939. He had a couple of businesses and then worked as a manager with Hostess Brands in the East Texas, Louisiana area. He was with the U.S. Post Office at the Casa Linda location for many years. He loved the Real Estate business, started part time while still at the Post Office and then after retirement from the Post Office, he entered the cattle business; then into full time with real estate, until retiring again at age 87. He was active in the sale of many homes in the Casa Linda, East Dallas area. Working with wood, building cabinets, furniture, staying always productively busy was his dedicated way. He loved traveling with his wife, Montye, was a great story teller, and a natural born, innovative salesman. He was a descendant of early settlers, the Grubbs and Wade families, in the Crandall, Texas area in the 1800’s. Relatives still live on land settled at that time by them. Joe was a World War II Veteran who served in the South Pacific.
Survivors are sister, Elizabeth Grubbs of Crandall, Texas; brother James R. Grubbs of Bryan, TX; wife Montye Maynard Grubbs; children and stepchildren and their families are: Joe E. Jr. and Betty Grubbs, Dina Sparkman, Joe D. and wife Kristi and Megan, Sarah, Abby and Hannah, Nan Phillips, Earl Phillips Jr. wife Kandy and Madison and Christopher, Cheryl Clark, Bradley and Brianna, Kevin and Kelly Womack, Mike and Leslee and Roxanne Mayers, Kaleb and Amanda & Kyle and Lyndsey, Phil and Kay Paulissen, Matt Kemp, Kevin and Tina Adds, Kaylee, Nathan, Avery and Brooklynn, Andy and Keri Westmoreland and Marissa Dunn, Trevor and Mikaya, Rick and Debbie Lively and Andrew, Larry and Debbie Erck, and Ashley: Jami & Clifton Cagle and Emilie and Conner, Hal & Pam Pirtle, William Erck, Jr., Michael & Emma Maynard, Eddie & Kimberly Santos, Trey and Tori-Kate, Christopher and Yvonne Sanders, Curtis and Melba Maynard, Jason, Kristen, Mark and Kara; many nieces & nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his wives Sarah Duncan Grubbs, Nell Pirtle Grubbs and Margaret Erck Grubbs, three brothers, a sister, grandson Christopher Phillips, stepdaughter Nan Brown and his parents Richard Fondren and Maude Cawthon Grubbs.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 4, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Highland Oaks Ahurch of Christ, 10805 Walnut Hill Lane. Interment to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Kaufman Cemetery in Kaufman, TX.
