JOHN LOYD BURROWS was born November 23, 1932, in Roff, Oklahoma. He married Elizabeth Ann Helsley in Dallas, Texas on June 29, 1951. She was the love of his life, and they were married for over sixty plus years before she preceded him in death in 2011. He served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army as an Army Reconnaissance Ranger. In his later years, he loved to tell his family all about his service in Korea! He worked as a truck driver for Buckley Oil Company delivering all types of solvents & chemicals for approximately 60 years. He never actually retired from Buckley Oil Company on his own. When he was 80 years old, the Company told him his truck was in the shop for repairs. He always joked “his truck must still be in the shop.” In 2011, he was stopped by the Highway Patrol to check his Haz mat certs, the officer could not wait to get back to his department to tell them that he had stopped the oldest Haz mat driver he knew of – (he was 79 years old) and yes, his Haz mat certs were up-to-date.
He was loved by his family and all who met him. He is survived by his children JoBeth Lynett Millar, John Wayne Burrows and his wife Yvonne Burrows, and Jean Ann Jones and her husband Edwin Jones. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Bauman. John had nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren.
Our beloved Father, Grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many people throughout his life went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2024. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
