

Born December 27, 1916 in San Antonio, TX to John K. and Alice Mabel Potter-Collins, known as J.K. to many, and Papaw to a quiver full of generations of close family. He was a man who chose to live his life devoted to God and brought the salvation story to anyone willing to listen. His influence was far-reaching, beginning with those closest to him and extended to everyone who crossed his path. A loyal and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and even great-great grandfather, he touched many lives and stepped in to assume responsibilities when others could not. He will be loved and cherished and holds a special place in many hearts.
John Collins pastored many churches from Castle, OK to Sulphur Springs, AR. He was a speaker for TANE, Texas Alcohol Narcotic Education and for Weight Watchers. He retired after 20 years from the U.S Postal Service where he worked at the Dallas Bulk Mail Center. After he retired, he studied and received his Insurance License. At one time, he was even a cab driver.
Survived by his wife, Billie Collins, of Gun Barrel City, TX, stepchildren, Pam & Mike Spross, grandchildren, Linda & Tom Gibson, Ann & Steve Goodner, Vickie Rabb, Scott Paugh, Louis Paugh, Jr., Jennifer Collins, and Laura Spross, great grandchildren, Danyelle Smith, Ben Miller, Melissa Smith, Stephen Miller, Christine Miller, Keith LaFlower, Andrew LaFlower, Amélie Paugh, and Hannah Spross, along with 16 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Mabel Wallace and Kathleen Kennedy and many other family.
Preceded in death by his parents, John K. Collins, Sr. and Alice Mabel Collins, first wife of 63 years, Chlotilde Collins, daughter, Chlotilde Paugh, great granddaughter, Jennifer Sue Davis, brother, Robert Collins, and sister, Geraldine Charles.
Visitation is on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm and Celebration of Life Services Wednesday at 10am at Grove-Hill Funeral Home, located at 3920 Samuel Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. Interment of the body will be at DFW National Cemetery at 12:30pm, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX.
