

John Fuller Gresham III, born January 10, 1932 in Knoxville, Tn. to the late Margaret H. and Kenneth M. Gresham Sr. and passed away May 8, 2010 in Dallas, Tx. John graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1955 with Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Scarab Architectural Honorary Fraternity, and Scabbard & Blade Military Honorary Fraternity, and the Ohio Society of The Sons of The American Revolution. He was an associate with Fred Manly Architects in Knoxville prior to service in the U.S. Army as an illustrator for the Surgeon General at Walter Reed Army Medical center in Washington D.C. After military service he worked for two architectural firms in Richmond, Va., where he was a member of the Virginia chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and was elected to the board of the Richmond Bachelors Cotillion. In 1963 he moved to Dallas and in a short time opened his business as JOHN GRESHAM DESIGNER, and was responsible for the re-design and remodeling of many Dallas homes, primarily in the Park Cities. National recognition followed after work appearing twelve times in House & Garden as well as British House & Garden. By then he had worked in eleven states and all over Texas. He was a member of the American Institute of Building Design, The Society of Professional Building Designers, and the Texas Association of Interior Designers. John is survived by his business partner and companion of forty-seven years Nelson Douglas Smith of Dallas, and his brother Kenneth M. Gresham, Jr. of Knoxville, and his loyal friends both here and in his beloved Puerto Vallarta. A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Hillcrest Memorial Park Lakeside Pavilion, Rev. Bill Smith, officiating. There will be a reception afterwards at John’s residence.
