

John C. Rhodes was born on April 28th, 1949 in Toxey, Alabama to JC Rhodes, Sr and Merle Cook. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he was an airborne sniper. He lived in Texas the past 60 years and worked for various companies during that time, ultimately retiring from Mannatech.
John, also known as "Dickie" to his family, was survived by his wife of 39 years- Gloria Rhodes; daughter, Teenyna Owens; brother, Randy Daugherty (wife Donna); sisters, Debbie Doggett (husband Robby), Ronda Daughtery and Vickie Coaker (husband Andy); grandson, Cameron Owens; great granddaughters, Shyanne, Skyelar, Taytum and Talon; stepson, Lance Dabbs. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Anyone that knew John, knew he loved to decorate for Halloween and Christmas and his yard was definitely the one to see during the holidays.
John loved his family and was definitely his happiest when he was spending time with them. He loved bowling and the wonderful friendships he made throughout the years. On any given day if you saw him- you would probably see him in an Alabama shirt or hat. He loved watching Alabama football- Roll Tide!!
To know him was to love him. He was the most gentle, sweet and caring person you could ever meet. Many have referred to him as a fine man and a fine man he definitely was.
John was preceded in death by his parents John C. Rhodes, Sr and Merle Singley, his sister Joann Rhodes and brother Stevie Daugherty.

A visitation for John will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
