John Stevenson Russell was born October 17, 1927, to the late Mr. Tommie Russell and Mrs. Jessie Ann Russell in Hillsboro, Texas. John passed away on March 16,2024 in Dallas, TX. John attended the Peabody Colored High School. John then went on to join the U.S. Army. He would eventually move to Dallas; were he would enjoy a long career in the grocery store business. John married Erma Ellis and they were married for 40 years. John joined the Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church and was an usher, member of the male choirs and later in life also worked at the church as a custodian.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Son Bobby, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
John was preceded in death by his Wife Erma Russell; sisters Mildred Adine Erwin, Emma Russell, Iva McKenzie, Vera Russell, Fannie L. Toplin, Tommie Dee Russell and brothers Printle Russell, Willie Russell, R. T. Russell, Tommie Russell Jr., Edward Russell, Manary Russell, Oliver Russell.
