Jose H. Contreras, born in Dallas, Texas to Joseph and Cruz on June 11, 1947, raised by Grandparents, Felix and Petra Contreras passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the age of 76 surrounded by his loved ones.
He served in The United States Army during the Vietnam era. After an Honorable discharge he worked at the Coca Cola Syrup Plant from 1968 until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus from 1983 to 2023. He was a 4th Degree Knight, Council #1480.
He enjoyed watching his favorite teams, Dallas Stars, Cowboys, Mavericks, and the Texas Rangers. He loved dancing at all the family events, the Tejano Nites Concerts, spending time with his Crozier Tech High School friends and visiting the Casinos.
He is survived by; his wife, Sylvia V. Contreras; two sons, Joe V. Contreras and Andrew R. Contreras with wife Julie; six Grandsons and one Granddaughter, Joseph with wife, Kandice, Juan Jose, Andrew, Sammy, Emilio, Jonathan with wife, Brittany, and Rachel with husband Billy; five Great Grandchildren,Isabelle, Emilia, Audrey, Emmett and William; sisters and brothers, Sylvia Alejos, Esther Mosqueda, Mary Bear, Leticia Sara, Adelita Martinez, Felix Contreras and George Contreras.
A visitation for Jose will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and A Celebration of Life will occur Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the North Chapel (Inside the Mausoleum) Friday, December 1, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the chapel will be open at 9am, and the entombment will follow the Mass. All services will be at 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220.
