

Mike built an extraordinary career as a real estate agent in the Dallas area, helping more than 1,100 families find a place to call home. Known for his integrity, dedication, and genuine care for others, he earned the trust of his clients and colleagues alike, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on the community he proudly served.
Mike graduated from Justin F. Kimball High School in 1967 and went on to attend the University of Houston, where he continued building the foundation for his successful career and strong work ethic.
Outside of his career, Mike found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He loved gardening, traveling, spending time with his family, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. A hardworking and dependable man, he lived with quiet strength and purpose, always putting those he loved first. Mike was a well versed in every aspect of botany. He adored a peaceful and productive afternoon in his garden.
He is survived by his loving brother, David James Barton, and sister-in-law, Renise Barton, of Dallas, Texas; and his cherished nieces, Elizabeth Barton and Aria Barton, also of Dallas. His bond with his family was strong, and he carried forward a legacy rooted in love, resilience, and connection.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph L. Barton and Rita S. Barton, and his grandparents, Harold A. Smith and Elizabeth Ross Glass Smith, whose strength, legacy, and proud Texas spirit lived on through him.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Joseph’s life will be held on April 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to attend as they gather to remember and celebrate a life well lived.
