Joseph Allen Kuhn M.D., 55, of Dallas passed away on a Sunday, July 20, 2014 to be with his Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, surgeon, and friend.

Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn was born in Ames, Iowa on October 3, 1958. He was proud of so many decisions in life which were always taken by trusting in God. He began his walk as an altar boy with his brothers Michael and Dan. He developed his early walk as a moral and hard-working Boy Scout, becoming an Eagle Scout thanks to the encouragement of his parents. He thanks his sisters Amy Kuhn, Patty Kelley, and Tina Cain, with his gradual spiritual and theatrical growth. Through God's grace, he managed to land at Texas A&M University, where he met his soul mate and spouse, Mollie. Together, they managed medical school at UTMB in Galveston, then surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center, a Surgical Oncology fellowship at the City of Hope in California, and the arrival of their blessed children, Kristin in 1989, Courtney in 1992, and Kevin in 1994. He treasured their times in Indian guides, dancing, acting, sports, scouts, and wilderness camping with each one, especially Northern Tier and Philmont with Kevin.

Dr. Kuhn celebrated 36 years in so many ways and places with his God-joined mate and partner, Mollie. He was also graced with friends like the Shanahan family who brought him closer to a daily walk with Christ, and Dr. John Nemunaitis, who worked so hard to cure him through God's gift of gene and vaccine therapy. Sadly, there wasn’t enough time for Dr. Kuhn, but through these efforts there is increased hope for others.

In the course of over 15,000 surgical operations Dr. Kuhn performed, he was often heard to say "the surgeon does the destructive work; The Lord does the healing". Through his many years of scientific research, he was most proud of his work completed with his two daughters which revealed the challenges to Darwinism hoping ultimately that some would begin to see a Creator of all things wonderful.

Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Edward Kuhn last May, and is survived by his wife Mollie Bloodworth Kuhn and their three children Kristin, Courtney and Kevin Kuhn all of Dallas, TX; his mother Charlotte Burke Kuhn; two brothers and three sisters as well as brothers-in-laws and sisters in-laws, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dr. Kuhn leaves behind a cavern of emptiness for not only his loved ones, but also for those he skillfully healed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 28, 2014 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas 75220. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum and Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Dr. Kuhn’s honor to the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Centers 1700 Pacific Avenue, Suite 1100 Dallas, Texas 75201 "In Honor of Joseph Allen Kuhn, M.D.", or online at www.marycrowley.org. Online condolences can be made at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest .com.

Wow. I had no idea Dr. K had gained his wings. He did my WL surgery in 2006. I was just looking him today to ask a question. My heart is sad to learn he's no longer here.
Your love one was really a God fearing man
May God continue to be with you all 💔😇

I am so heartbroken because Dr Kuhn was one of the best doctors I was blessed to have take care of me, and I was expecting to have him as my doctor, for as long as I lived. My condolences goes out to the family, you all was blessed to have such a wonderful GOD sent father. He was sweet, Caring, respectful and encouraging doctor. He was the best of the best, he was an Angel!!!!!
He always had time to listen , and address my concerns. He conducted my cancer surgery about 7 years ago and I am well pleased with the results. I found out he earned his wings and I was devastated, he will be missed . My prayers are forever with his family. Gone too soon!!!!!!

Doc....this is WD. I just want to let you know that before I go to bed every night that I thank the good Lord for you saving my wife's life not only once, but twice. I miss our talks about hunting, knives, etc. Susan has been diagnosed with recurring malignant melanoma and Dr Henke has done surgery on her which came back negative. Thank you for being there not only with her, but me as well. I miss you Doc...♡♡

Doc did a gastric bypass in 2004 and surgery twice later for nonrelated problems. I trusted him and as the pounds fell off became so grateful for his skill and humanity. When after several years I sat at Baylor with my husband dead from a stroke in another room I was shocked to see him, after performing surgery on someone, come to me at 3AM to walk with me to let Don go for the last time. He held me and offered his streingth something I hope Mollie had. Rest in Christ Doc you are greatly missed.

Dr. Kuhn, I was so sorry to hear of your passing. You took care of me back in the late 90's when I had melanoma. You were so kind and caring and I'm sure you saw the fear in my eyes. But, you took care of me in the same way that you took care of all those that came before me and after me. I have read their stories and feel blessed that you were there for me just as you were for the others. I was truly blessed to have had you in my life at the right time❣ I'll pray for your family's happiness.

I just heard of your passing Dr. Kuhn. I learned so much from you and you were an inspiration during my residency at Baylor from 1996 to 2001. I recall many of the surgeries we did together because they were highlights of my training and the many tips you gave me I use today to care for my own patients. You had a rare gift for teaching and were a wonderful and compassionate physician. I will always remember you.
