Joseph Albert Vieger's spirit crossed over the great divide to the eternal presence of his Creator on December 1, 2023. Joe was born on July 27, 1952 to Albert and Helen (Miller) Vieger at Mercy Hospital, Davenport, Iowa. He was one of nine children and grew up in Dallas, Texas. The Vieger family lovingly became a part of the founding parish of St Pius X Catholic Church. He attended Bishop Lynch High School and graduated from Bryan Adams High School. Joe relocated to California later returning to Texas to make Mesquite his home.
Joe always loved taking things apart and seeing how things worked. This laid the groundwork for becoming a Master Mechanic of vehicles and later coining himself the “Car Doctor.” He devoted himself to a full 28-year career with Lute Riley Honda (1984-2012) as a Gold Level Master Technician. Retirement was not the end of sharing this gift. He freely offered a helping hand with his knowledge to his family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors.
Joe was a son, brother, father, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. His daughter Helen Loretta and son, Alexander Joseph (AJ), being his most cherished treasures. Joe channeled his creative energies by repurposing everyday items into pieces of yard art to adorn his yard. He journaled daily, leaving us with a cache of poetry and contemplations. He also had an affinity for Native American culture and spirituality. He displayed many pieces of artwork and artifacts throughout his home. Joe supported St. Joseph's Indian School through the years. He had many years of shared companionship with his beloved blue heeler, Dusty Moon, and chicken, Cluck Cluck. He touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Helen (Loretta) Vieger and son, Alexander Joseph (AJ) Vieger with their mother Margaret Vieger, his eight siblings Mary (Michael) Eppinger, Robert Vieger, Stephen (Jan) Vieger, John (Lisa) Vieger, Kathryn (John) Plugge, Patricia (Butch Willinger) Edgette, Michael (Carol) Vieger, and Rose Vieger along with 21 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews. His dear friends and neighbor, the Sandovals, blessed Joe with the caring and watchful friendship through many years and up to his final days. His parents, Albert and Helen Vieger, precede him in death.
Respectfully, if you would like to honor Joseph Albert Vieger, donations in his name to his charity, St. Joseph Indian School would be greatly appreciated.
