A lifelong resident of Dallas, Jo Fertitta was born October 17, 1915 and died December 3, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John F. Fertitta. Jo was a graduate of Forest Ave. High School, where she was president of the French Club, and excelled at French studies. After high school, she worked several years for the Upjohn Company. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where she served on an Altar Circle. She also worked many years for Catholic Charities of Dallas. She devoted her life to her family. She was a great cook. Family and friends enjoyed the many wonderful meals she prepared. She especially liked to cook for her grandchildren. In recent years, she resided at The Gardens of Richardson.
Survivors include one sister, three children, several grand and great grandchildren, a niece and nephew, great nephews, and many good friends.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 6-8pm, with the Rosary at 7pm at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home in Dallas. A Committal Service will be at noon, December 8 at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of your choice.
