Born in Senatobia, Mississippi on August 12, 1938, to Leland Garfield McClure and Inez Edwards McClure. Her father was a public accountant and her mother worked for the Superintendent of Education’s office at the Tate County Courthouse. Joyce was the 1956 valedictorian of Senatobia High School. Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Mississippi, where she joined the Delta Gamma Sorority. She moved to Dallas in 1960 where she met and married Herbert “Pete” Arnold, III. Together they had two children.
An avid reader, she enjoyed reading histories, especially books on the Civil War and World War II. Always interested in home designs she and Pete would often visit open houses looking for the “perfect” place. That became a hobby for them, and they often discussed what worked best about various house designs. In 1970 they collaborated with a home builder to create their dream home. In the mid-1990s they moved to their “lake house” and embarked on several remodeling and decorating projects to make it their perfect home. Traveling with friends was another passion, she and Pete traveled all over the world.
She is survived by her husband, Pete, and two children, Peter B. Arnold of Dallas Texas and Susan M. Arnold of Dallas Texas.
Reception to be held from 3:00pm - 5:00 pm, Friday, January 5, 2024 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas TX.
