Juanita Frances Joplin

Juanita Frances Joplin, age 88 of Dallas, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2016. She was born on February 27, 1928 in Dallas, the daughter of Thomas Smith and Gertrude Willis Smith. Juanita married Harris Joplin, Jr. and they celebrated over 74 years of marriage together.

Juanita was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church for many years. She spent many years taking care of her family at home, but had also briefly worked for Southwestern Bell and the Dallas ISD. Juanita’s excellent cooking will be missed, as well as her gentle care with children and babies. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Harris Joplin, Jr.; son Ronald E. Joplin and wife Jane; grandchildren Jason Joplin and wife Angela, Jarrod Joplin and wife Amanda, Jenny Scheppler and husband Troy, Kim Shaw and husband Casey; and 12 great grandchildren and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kathy Mae Dooley, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 26 from 1-2PM, with funeral services starting at 2PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Diversicare of Lake Highlands for their love and support.
