Julianna, “Julie,” Dallas, born July 6, 1962, as Julianna Hunter, was a beloved and cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, cousin, and aunt. Julie passed away on September 20, 2023, alongside family in Dallas, TX after a brave battle with colon cancer.
Julie is survived by her mother (Helen Ann Hunter), her son and daughter-in-law (Hunter and Megan Dallas), her daughter (Jenna Dallas), youngest son (Blake Dallas), and three grandchildren (Annie, George, and Charlie Dallas). Her spirit, sense of humor, joy and kindness will live on through her family and friends. She will be missed by family and friends whose lives she quickly and positively impacted along the way.
Julie was raised in Amarillo, TX where she attended First Baptist Church and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1980. Julie had many interests growing up, but cheerleading and a mission trip to Hawaii were some of the highlights from her childhood. Julie started her college career at Texas Christian University, spent a year in Austin, TX at The University of Texas at Austin, and ultimately earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Colorado Boulder in 1985.
She was a mother first, living a selfless life, who raised three kids (“The three best gifts she ever received!”) in Dallas, TX. She put her children first and worked various jobs across real estate, healthcare, and marketing over the years to care for them. She brightened the lives of all who she encountered regardless of the task at hand.
Julie had many hobbies and her creativity showed through everything she did. Some of her favorite things to do included gardening, painting, arts and crafts with her grandkids, decorating for holidays, going on long walks listening to audiobooks, collecting seashells from beach trips, making jewelry, cooking and baking, shopping for antiques, going to estate sales, attending her annual neighborhood Christmas cookie swap, neighborhood bible study and loved to watch a good thunderstorm roll in. Her ability to turn nothing into something was unmatched and she always had simultaneous art projects, gardening revitalizations or furniture refurbishment ongoing. All the while she would show up with one of these projects for her kids and or grandkids to enjoy. Her family plans to honor her by continuing to do the things she loved.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 1st at 1:00 pm in Sparkman Memorial Chapel with a Reception to immediately follow at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX. The burial following the reception will be private. Julie loved color and always wanted her friends and family to be at ease. Please choose attire that makes you feel comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to https://fightcolorectalcancer.org/ or to UT Southwestern Medical Center at https://engage.utsouthwestern.edu/.
