

Mary Hawk Connolly passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on February 11, 2016. She was born May 6, 1919, in Grand Junction, Colorado, where she grew up and met the love of her life, John Coleman Connolly, at a dance. As soon as she saw him she knew he was the one because he was so handsome. Their marriage of 71 years began with an elopement to Utah. They settled in Dallas where they raised their five children. Katherine was very active in Bible studies and Royal Haven Baptist Church, which she attended with her children, and later Believers Chapel. Katherine was a stay at home mom and devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had one of the greenest thumbs in Dallas and was known for her love of flowers, especially African Violets. She grew fantastic crops of tomatoes in her Dallas yard which she shared freely with friends, family and neighbors. She was a woman of faith and prayer and had a great love for the Word of God. She was always ready with a word of encouragement. Each child believed they were her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, John Allen Connolly; a granddaughter, Sharon Kay Willis, and four brothers, David, Earl, Joe and Jack.
Katherine is survived by her sister Alta, of New York; daughter Betty Kay Willis and her husband, Jerry; son, James Dale Connolly and his wife, Tina; son, Michael David Connolly and his wife Jan; daughter, Kathy Louise Vance and her husband Charles. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Michael, Michelle and spouse James, Sherry and spouse William, Scott and spouse Tonia, John, Carrie and spouse Vip, and Jeffrey. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren, Lindsey, Zach, Luke, Kelsey, James, Jerry, Eliana, Titus, Moriah and Zane.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13 at 9am with a funeral service to follow at 10am at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. Burial will take place following the service in Whitney, TX at the Bethlehem Cemetery.
