

Kathlyn Lynett Britt entered this world of December 16, 1960, in Fairfield, Texas, a precious gift to her devoted parents, World War II veteran L.D. Davis and Effie Lee Turner. Through the deep bond of love between L.D. Davis and his brother, Ernest Davis, Kathlyn was adopted at just 10 months old by Ernest and his beloved wife, Leatrice Adkins. Raised as their cherished only child, Kathlyn grew up surrounded by love from both sets of parents, always considering herself doubly blessed to have been nurtured and treasured by them until their passing.
Kathlyn's life was beautifully enriched when she married the love of her life, Lyndon G. Britt Sr. Their union of twenty-six years was filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering companionship. Together, they built a family, and Kathlyn embraced her role as mother to four children with grace and unconditional love. her children and grandchildren were the joy of her heart, and she poured herself into them, creating a legacy of love that will endure for generations.
From a tender age, Kathlyn accepted christ and began her lifelong walk of faith at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, under the guidance of the late Rev. Alvin White Sr. In 1971, her family joined New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, where Kathlyn's devotion to Christ blossomed into decades of faithful service. She served as assistant musician, later as Minister of Music, and as church secretary under Rev. Gerald L. Britt Jr., continuing steadfastly under Rev. Bruce Fortner until her retirement. For forty years, Kathlyn gave her heart and soul to the ministry of music, blessing countless lives with her extraordinary gift.
Kathlyn was not simply a church musician - she was a musical genius. Drawn to music from her youth, she absorbed wisdom from fellow musicians and developed a style uniquely her own. With unmatched skill, she could make the Hammond B3 organ "sing", lifting spirits and stirring hearts. Beyond performance, she composed, wrote, and produced music, leaving behind melodies that reflected her deep faith and creative brilliance.
Her education began at the esteemed St. Anthony Academy in Dallas, continued at Justin F. Kimball High School, and later at Cedar Valley College. Alongside her musical calling, Kathlyn worked for Sears, Roebuck & Company before dedicating herself fully to her ministry of music.
Kathlyn now rests in eternal peace, preceded in death by her parents: L.D. Davis, Effie Lee Turner, Ernest Davis, and Leatrice Adkins; her brothers: Walter, Freddie, and Otis Davis; and her beloved grandson, Kalon Nicholas Glenn Harper.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, carried forward by her husband, Lyndon G. Britt Sr.; her children: Anasa Davis-Ross (David), Brandon-Ross C. Howard (Megumi), Karen Collins (Andrick_, and Lyndon G. Britt II (Felicia); her treasured grandchildren: Ayden Nicolas Davis Ross, Dallas Eriko Conrad Howard, Leamon Harper II, Andrick Collins Jr., Alayah Collins, Vernard Ross (Justina), Dr. Natasha K. Ross, Zack Correa, and Jackson Correa; her siblings: Josephine Davis-Love (Rev. Henry Love), Ann Davis, Pamela Griffin (Herman), Cindy Kay Fantroy, Jimmy Davis, Darrell Davis, Levell Davis, and James Davis.
Kathlyn's life was graced with the companionship of her special confidant, Mrs. Evelyn Onic, and the enduring friendship of Denise Phillips Taylor, Terrie Britt, Cheryl Jackson, and the late Evelyn Jackson Gardner. Alongside them, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends will continue to cherish her memory.
Kathlyn Lynett Britt's journey was one of faith, love, and music. She touches lives with her kindness, inspired hearts with her melodies, and uplifted souls with her unwavering devotion to Christ. Though she has departed this earthly life, her spirit continues to sing a song of love, faith, and beauty that will echo forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home, located at 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232, on December 30, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service is scheduled for December 31, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 115 W Belt Line Rd, DeSoto, TX 75115.
The committal will take place at Laurel Land Mem Park - Dallas, 6300 S. R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75232, on January 2, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
