Katie Lou McCommas, age 79 of Garland, passed away suddenly on July 23, 2016. She was born on November 2, 1936 in Dallas, TX, the youngest daughter of Anise Bennett and John H. Trimble. Katie married Charles H. McCommas on November 27, 1954 and he sadly preceded her in death in 1986.
Katie was a devout Christian who was a former member of Orchard Hills Baptist Church and later attended First Baptist Church in Garland. Katie will be remembered fondly for her kind words and generosity, her love for family and friends, and her warm smile.
Katie is survived by her daughter Charla Maloy and husband Daniel; son Todd H. McCommas; grandchildren Hayden McCommas, Justin Rangel and wife Emily, and Christi Rangel; great grandchildren Charles Rangel, Anthony Rangel, and Bailey Brown; sisters Betty Inman, Yevonne Drew, and Frances Fogg and husband Raymond. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles H., and brothers Ray and Don Trimble.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, July 26 from 10-11:30am, with funeral services beginning at 11:30am, all at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may me made to the family to be used in Katie's honor.
