Kawana D. Cox

Kawana Darlynncia Cox was born on June 5, 1980 to the parentage of Clois and Myrtis Cox. At an early age she was baptized and joined East Gate Baptist Church. She served as a member in the youth choir.

Kawana was educated through the Dallas Independent School District. She attended T.G. Terry, D.A. Hulcy, and David W. Carter High School During high school she was involved in many activities such as cheerleading, student government, dance team, class secretary, and P.A.L.S.

Immediately following graduation in 1998, Kawana attended Stephen F. Austin State University. As a sophomore she transferred to Prairie View Texas A&M University, and became an active and beloved member of Sigma Tau Theta Communications organization. Kawana was a proud graduate of PV, with a degree in Communications. She truly enjoyed going to PV Homecoming each year to celebrate her school.

After graduation, Kawana vigorously worked in the field of communications with Radio One Incorporated and Grass Roots Productions. Later, she worked for Citigroup until her death.

Kawana had a bright, beautiful smile with a joyous laughter that will forever remain in the hearts of all those that knew her. She always had a special way of making everyone feel valued, loved and supported. Kawana was an amazing mother to her beautiful baby girl Reagan Parker. They were an inseparable pair and cherished their time together. She embraced fashion, music and her faith in Jesus Christ.

Kawana was preceded in death by her mother Myrtis Cox, sons Mason and Carter Davis, her paternal and maternal grandfathers. Her legacy and found memories will be cherished by her daughter; Reagan Parker Davis, father; Clois Cox, step-mother; Blonda Cox, God-parents; Donald and Myrtle Watson, brothers; Frederick, Roderick (Temeka) Cox, Roderic (LaToya) McIntyre, Aaron (Tonya) McIntyre, Grandmothers; Katie Owens of Dallas, Texas and Jean Cox of Fairfield, Texas; aunts, uncles, a host of nieces and nephews, and countless of other friends and loved ones.
