

Born January 5, 1941 in El Paso, Texas to Marjorie and Cecil Jerden, on Friday July 17, 2015 Keith entered into his Eternal Home. Keith was surrounded by his loving family as he transitioned to his Heavenly Home. Keith was a High School Graduate of the Class of 1959 at Sunset Highschool. Mr. Jerden joined the United States Naval Air Reserves in 1962 and received an Honorable Discharge on October 12, 1970. After his first graduation from North Texas State University and his active duty service in the United States Naval Air Reserves, he began his long career in 1963 with the Grand Prairie Independent School District as a teacher. Additionally, he also served as a coach, head teacher, assistant principal and finally principal for 23 years. His philosophy was that schooling is not a means to an end but is rather the beginning of a long journey to the future. Countless Grand Prairie students were the beneficiaries of his vision which spanned 40 years. He was member of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association as well as a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association. In addition to his dedication to education, he volunteered his time and energy to the Young Men’s Christian Association and the Boy and Girl Scouts of America. He actively supported the various Parent Teacher Associations led by him as an administrator. Mr. Jerden was very proud of his Scottish Heritage, being a descendant of Clan Jardine which has been documented many generations back. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. Keith leaves to forever cherish his Legacy and Love his Wife of 52 years Marilyn; Daughters: Shannon Jerden Bell, husband Frank and Heather Jerden Anderson, husband Rodney; Grandchildren: Nicolas, Marissa, Aaron, Andrew, and Addison. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him including his faithful companion, Patches the cat. In lieu of Flowers, Donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in honor of Keith Jerden.
