Kenneth Dale “Paw Paw” Grayson, 86, electrician, veteran and beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 15, 2025, with his wife, Nancy, by his side. Born on March 27, 1938, in Frisco, Texas, his life stood for resilience, loyalty, craftsmanship, and the power of a good story of which he had many. He grew up in Mesquite, Texas and spent most of his life in the Dallas area, but he also lived in New Orleans for several years. He loved everything Cajun.
After serving as a paratrooper in the US Army, 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam era, Kenneth returned home to Dallas to become a skilled and highly respected electrician. He was a proud member of the IBEW and had the opportunity to travel and work on many famous & historical buildings throughout his electrical career. He retired from Vought Aircraft Industries in March of 2010 after 29 years of service with the company.
Kenneth was generous, loving, loyal and brave. He could be strong willed and stubborn, but those traits defined him. He was a clever man full to the brim with knowledge gained through his life experiences: electrician, mechanic, carpenter, contractor. He could fix or build just about anything. Kenneth loved boating, vacations to the beach, reading, camping, coaching Little League football, and tinkering in his shop, but above all, loved being on the lake with family and friends. We know he is now on a journey to shores that we cannot see, free of pain and sailing into the sunset with those who went before him.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with friends, family, and community. He never hesitated to help someone in need, whether a friend or stranger. He truly loved his people, and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with quiet dignity, strength, and love. He is and will be dearly missed.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his son, Andrew Grayson, parents Calvin and Fayola Grayson, brother Bill Grayson, sister Lola Jeanette Wiggins and husband Sammy, former wife Mary Beth Grayson, stepson Glenn Murphy, and step-granddaughter Heather Huddleston.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 23 years, sister Doris, brother-in-law Barry Johnson and wife Marcy, sister-in-law Linda Sanders and husband Hugh, stepchildren Charles Norris and wife Denise, Kelly Harrison and husband Tim, Michael Murphy and wife Susan, Daniel Murphy and wife Cheryl. He is also survived by many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In typical Paw Paw fashion, there are no services planned, certainly no “pomp” as per his wishes. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of his Life planned to be held at Hidden Cove Park on Lake Lewisville on a date to be determined as the weather allows. Details will be shared once finalized. Kenneth loved life and would much rather be remembered with smiles and laughter instead of tears.
“I loved you then, I love you still, I always have and always will.”
“Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean.”
