

Kevin Winfield Dodge passed away at his home on April 1, 2019. Kevin was loved by his family, parishioners and colleagues. Kevin had a keen sense of humor, a passion for learning, and enjoyed exploring the nuances of Christian theology. Early in his career Kevin worked as an investment banker and investor. Later in his career he joined the family business – the church. Kevin’s father and his uncle were both pastors; Kevin devoted his energies to helping others understand Christian theology and the Bible more deeply. He loved to teach. He also wrote several books including: Mission Improbable: How the Gospel Set the World on Fire; An Invitation to A Holy Lent: a Devotional; and Reading Dante: a Theological Paraphrase of the Inferno. Kevin completed a Master of Theology (ThM) degree with highest Honors from Dallas Theological Seminary; a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School; a Bachelor of Arts from Connecticut College; and a diploma from Warwick High School, Lititz Pennsylvania.
During the last seventeen months of his life, Kevin battled stage four signet ring cell adenocarcinoma. He confronted his cancer with courage and diligence, completing 28 cycles of chemotherapy. He also searched for what could be learned from dealing with cancer. Kevin shared on CaringBridge.org his journey with cancer, as well as his perspective on the church’s weekly lectionary.
Kevin was a beloved son, brother, uncle and husband. Kevin was born on April 23, 1970, to the Rev. W. Thomas Dodge, Jr. and Elizabeth V. Dodge. Kevin had one younger brother, Owen Martin Dodge. Kevin married Lorelee and was married 19 years until he passed away at 48 years old. Kevin was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, W. Thomas Dodge, Sr. and Elizabeth Gill Dodge; and his maternal grandparents, Edward John Veitch and Mary Alice Brown Veitch. Kevin’s family that remains to cherish his memory include his wife, Lorelee Parker Dodge; parents; brother; sister in-law, Emily Ryenna Geizer; nieces: Brynn Geneva Dodge and Cora Jasmine Dodge; aunt, Jane Veitch Greenlaw; and uncle, the Rev. William Allen Greenlaw; as well as other aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Requiem Mass for Kevin will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, Texas. A reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, Kevin has requested that any donation be provided to the Dick Granger Neighborhood Ministry at Church of the Incarnation to assist people in need in the surrounding community.
