LaChelle D. Cole

LaChelle Devon Hopkins was born to the proud parents of Olistene and Mary L. Hopkins in Dallas, Texas on December 22, 1962. She graduated from New Iberia Senior High School in the class of 1981. From high school, she attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana. In 1982, she moved to Dallas and began taking courses at Mountain View College in pursuit of her love of photography. From there, she started her career as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in 1992, where she remained employed for 23 years. LaChelle gave her life to Christ at an early age. She joined Light of the World Church of Christ, under the leadership of Dr. E. D. Seamster, Jr., in Dallas, Texas. LaChelle was united in holy matrimony to David Cole in March 1987 and to this union two children were born, Kisia and Marick.LaChelle had a wonderful zest for life and loved spending time with her family. She was affectionately called, “Nanny” to many cousins, because of her sincere, selfless heart for children. Chelle never met a stranger; her most fond moments were turning a person’s frown into a smile. Chelle’s passions included traveling, photography, watching movies and caring for her “grand dogs”, Ziggy, Nala, Carmel and Cody and her loving birds, Jellie and Lily. LaChelle is survived by her devoted mother, Mary Louis of New Iberia, Louisiana; three children, daughter, Kisia Cole of Cedar Hill, Texas, son, Marick Cole of DeSoto, Texas and stepson, David Cole of Dallas, Texas; siblings, Dereck Green of Sacramento, California, Draoun Johns of Dallas, Texas, Roderick Smith (Monica) of Red Oak, Texas, Aikia Franks (Gradlin) of Fort Worth, Texas and Tameka Hopkins of Dallas, Texas; stepbrother, George Keaton, Jr. and stepsister, Thean Leadon; step-granddaughter, Nylaah and hosts of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She now joins in glory with her father, Olistene Hopkins, her paternal grandparents, Maurice Hopkins and Para Lee Tatum; her maternal grandparents, Horace and Isabelle Williams.
