Lakeisha Katrice Johnson was born to the parentage of Ira Wayne Jackson (Deceased) and Jacquelyn Ranae Johnson on July 27, 1980 in Dallas, Texas. She attended school in the Dallas Independent School District and was a proud alumnus of Madison High School.
Lakeisha was a very loving and caring Mother/Wife and was very big on Respect, Loyalty, Trust, Honesty and most importantly FAMILY. Lakeisha was strong minded and kind hearted woman who would give the coat off her back to help anyone she could.
Lakeisha met her husband McKinley Harris in Southeast dallas apartments(Bertrand) where they started dating on December 15, 1995. After a few months of dating in Bertrand, McKinley left for the weekend and when he returned, Lakeisha had moved from Bertrand then 3 weeks later McKinley moved from Bertrand. They lost touch for 3 months and by the grace of God they were reunited in a fairy tail style event with Lakeisha moving to the exact same area (Hillside) apartments in Pleasant Grove. They had no idea she was moving to the same area he lived in.
Lakeisha and McKinley married early the age of 20 on February 7, 2000. They had their first born child Te'Adra Johnson on November 13, 1998 followed by their second born Makaila Harris on September 25, 2003. Before having kids of her own, Lakeisha raised and cared for her brother, Christopher “Sonny” Jackson and also help with her husband’s little sister, “Dannielle Harris”(sister-in-law).
Through God's grace, Lakeisha was able to live to see both her daughters graduate college with Te’Adra earning her Master’s August of 2024 and Makaila earning her Bachelor’s May of 2025. Keisha had a passion for decorating for holidays, mainly Christmas. She was preparing to start her Christmas decor business this holiday season.
Keisha also was part of a very special friend group called “Volleyball Moms” with (Erica, Regina and Ti’Sha).
(Story time)
Sitting at a volleyball game one day with Moms of beautiful black girls, the idea of creating a space for melanated players in a sport where they were not often seen became a reality with the creation of Black Girl Volleyball Magic!
Keisha played a pivotal role in the growth of the Black Girl Volleyball Magic Facebook group, a space dedicated to celebrating and uplifting Black girls in volleyball. She was passionate about supporting young athletes and their achievements, and encouraging a strong sense of community. She could be seen on the sidelines of various girls’ games doing her famous fist pump while saying “YES!”. Keisha’s passion for volleyball was witnessed by so many in the volleyball community. Her support of athletes in the game never waived. Her enthusiasm, support, cheering, and most of all smile will be missed.
You're Still In My Heart
You left before I could say goodbye
Leaving me searching for the reasons why
There were so many things that I needed to say
But I understand now you had to do it your way
I won't languish in things that make me sad
Instead, I'll relish all the good times we had
I guess I realize that there's never a good way to part
So I'll take comfort in knowing You're Still In My Heart!
Love your Bestie/Sista
