Leslie Anne Garvey Hansen, 68, died surrounded by family on Friday the 22nd of April 2022 due to complications of COPD. Leslie was born October 16, 1953 in Dallas, Texas to Betsy Latimer Garvey and Dr. Ronald “Skip” Garvey. Raised in Dallas, she attended St. Rita Elementary School, Ursuline Academy (‘72) and graduated from Emory University (‘76). After moving back to Dallas she worked as an accountant for Mobil Oil Company.
On July 22, 1978 she married the love of her life Robert Hartvig Hansen Jr., known to everyone as Bob. Together they raised two boys, Trey and TJ. After the birth of her second son, Leslie devoted her life to her children and family. She was well known at Mary Immaculate School and Jesuit College Prep always volunteering her time and skills. She was the loudest cheerleader in the baseball bleachers and wrestling gyms and she supported them in everything they did. She loved being a mom.
Leslie had a passion for cooking, sewing and organizing gatherings with friends and family. She cherished her many friendships from her Ursuline days and enjoyed organizing class reunions. Her recipes were a mainstay at book club and she was active in many neighborhood groups.
In 2006 she was diagnosed with COPD and in 2015 with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Despite these setbacks she continued to live the way she wanted until the very end. She never turned down an invitation to get together with friends to dance and enjoy life and spent as much time with her grandkids as she could. Her smile and spirit will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Bob Hansen and their children Dr. Robert "Trey" Hansen (Portia) and Tristan “TJ” Hansen (Meg) and she was a loving “Nonna” to her six grandchildren Averill, Clive, Anna, Phebe, Lily and Owen. She is also survived by her siblings Ron Garvey, Tim Garvey and Tracey Dunham.
A funeral will be held at Mary Immaculate Church at 10AM on Friday, May 20th and a Celebration of Life will be held the following day, May 21st, from 12-2PM at The Lakes of Castle Hills Club.
