

Lewis Norman Bernard was born June 26, 1960, and died February 20, 2021, after privately battling metastatic colon cancer. Lewis was born in Dallas, TX, graduated from Richardson High School and Texas Tech University. He was an apparel rep for over 35 years, most recently a multi-line sales rep for outdoor apparel brands including Spyder, for over 22 years. Lewis enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, sailing, scuba diving, fly fishing, bird hunting, cycling, ice hockey and running. He completed the NY marathon in 1993, rode in the Utah Lake Epic Century Ride (ULCER) and the Hotter ’N Hell Hundred (Wichita Falls, TX) bike races, without ever training for them.
Lewis was thoughtful of his neighbors and community, completing the Citizens Fire Academy with the Irving Fire Dept., delivered Meals on Wheels, and was the first neighbor called to help when a neighbor needed something repaired. He never met a stranger and instantly befriended all those he met. He considered all his business associates his friends and family. Lewis was always interested in hearing about what was going on in his friends' lives and celebrated their accomplishments. He was very positive and always lifted up everyone, and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Lewis’s friends had many nicknames for him including Lew, Lewie, Lewie Lew-I, Lew B, Luigi, Uncle L, and Snow Leopard.
Lewis was a loving husband. He married Shannon Brown Bernard October 9, 1999. He is survived by his wife Shannon, mother Joyce Bernard, sister Susan Peden (Dave), aunts Carol Ginsburg of Boca Raton, FL, and Mitzi Werther; cousins Steven Werther, David Werther, Wendy Hanes, Robin Chipkin and Merrin Metcalf; wife's parents Donald and Sharon Brown of Wichita Falls, TX; brothers-in-law Bert Brown of Wichita Falls and Brady Brown of Amarillo, TX; nieces Alline Brown, Julia Brown, Devin Handley and Ashley Brown; nephew Graham Brown. He was proceeded in death by his father, Martin Bernard, and cousin, Seth Ginsburg.
