Lois Varnon was born on June 25, 1921 in Point, TX and passed away August 2, 2014 in Dallas, TX. She is survived by Charles Varnon (Suzanne), Trudye Rice (Mike), grandsons, Justin Varnon (Susan), Jared Rice (Michelle) and Kristopher Rice with a great grandson due in September. She is preceded in death by husband Truman Varnon.
Lois lived in Dallas since 1950 and made the East Dallas area her home. She was a homemaker and owner in the family business. She has been a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church since 1960 and very active until her move to Caruth Haven.
She made church and family her number one commitment. She loved social life with long time couple friends and family traveling and playing 42 and she enjoyed time with her special girlfriends for lunch and parties. She was a servant to her family, neighbors, church, choir members and Sunday School class. Her devotion was to the choir and she was honored for 50 years of service in 2010.
She was a special "Gogy" to her 3 grandsons, cooking special favorite foods, taking them to school, spending nights at her house and spending hours of time enjoying each other. Lois instilled spiritual values in her children and grandchildren.
The nursing care at Caruth Haven Court and Altus Hospice were a blessing. The Caruth staff showed care and love to our mother and we always felt mom was in the best of hands.
Visitation will be on 8/5, 1:00pm at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church with service at 2:00pm. Interment is Emory City Cemetery.
In her memory, donations may be made to Emory City Cemetery, Emory, TX 75440.
