Lori was born on a farm in remote Joplin, Montana. Lori was fiercely independent her whole life and upon graduation from high school, left farm life behind and set out for Colorado Springs to work as a secretary. She eventually landed in Chicago after the war, where she met Roger Brickman. They were married on May 26, 1951.
Lori and Roger had twins, Jim and Debbie, and raised them in Oak Brook, Illinois. In 1970, Lori and Roger moved from Oak Brook to Rancho Santa Fe, California. For the next 35 years they played golf, tennis, bridge and traveled the world together.
Some trips were quite adventurous - like the one where Roger flew his twin engine plane around Cape Horn, South America, and on the return leg during a severe storm had a forced landing at an oil company's tiny landing strip in the Amazon jungle. They had to stay in the jungle over a week until the rain subsided. As Boppie always told her grandchildren, "we really liked to have fun together. Don't forget to have fun!"
In 1990 Roger and Lori moved to the beach at Long Boat Key, Florida, to be with their retired Chicago friends.
Lori especially enjoyed the time she spent in the Colorado mountains with all of her family every summer and at Christmas. She was even known to have a treehouse sleepover with her grandkids. Her ashes will be placed on the family property at the base of a beautiful tree next to Roger's ashes.
Lori is survived by her children, James Brickman (and wife Susan) and Debra Brickman; four grandchildren, Blake Brickman, Jennifer Roberts, Trevor Brickman and Natalie Wellsfry; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest.com for the Brickman family.
