She is survived by her son Mark Whitson and his wife Carrie, her half-sister Marilyn Holik and her husband Benny. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Whitson, her parents Mable Gibson and Clyde Gibson, Georgia and James Whitson, and her brother Gordon Gibson.
A wife and mother, Lyda enjoyed playing bridge and participated in several book clubs. She was an avid painter in her early life and worked in real estate for several years. Lyda and Jim enjoyed traveling together over their 60 years of marriage.
