Raised in Monterrey, Manuel was a big fan of the Rayados de Monterrey Soccer team. He was also a musician and had an intense love of music. He began playing the bass guitar at the age of 14 and has owned his main bass guitar since age 17. In addition to being a musician, Manuel was a freestyle dancer, who loved to express his enthusiasm on stage. Another talent Manuel possessed was with the barbecue grille and outdoor cooking. He was the chef of the family who enjoyed his delicious signature items of steak and brisket. Manuel was everybody’s friend and never met a stranger. He was charismatic, had a goofy side and a big sense of humor. Manuel also enjoyed movies and regularly binged on Netflix series.
Cherishing these wonderful memories of Manuel are: his wife, Miriam Rodriguez; daughter and son-in-law, Miriam “Mimi” Rodriguez and Aldo; daughter, Michelle Rodriguez; son and daughter-in-law, Manuel, Jr. and Ruth Rodriguez; and grandchildren, Aldo, Jr. and Kayleen.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 17, 2015 between 4-8PM in the Chapel of Calvary Hill Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2015, in the North Chapel of the Calvary Hill Cemetery Mausoleum at 2PM. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery.
The family extends special thanks to the following: Monica Green, good friend previous owner of Monica’s Aca y Alla restaurant; Angel Borjas and José Sanchez of Maracas Restaurant in Deep Ellum (Manuel was part of both restaurants for twenty years); and to ID Plates (where Manuel also worked for twenty years).
