Marcus Luis Escalona Sr.

Marcus was raised in Dallas, Texas and attended W. T. White High School. He had two children and served as a manager at Dickey's Barbecue Pit where he worked for more than thirteen years.

In his spare time, Marcus enjoyed helping others and was a jack of all trades when it came to electronics. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He would always enjoy those "detour" road trips to the casinos.

His family and friends will always remember him as a spinning, mixing DJ aka DJ Mad Marks who loved hosting party events for his family and friends any chance he could. He will be remembered as well for having the biggest heart and infectious laugh.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Rev. Jose M. Escalona; paternal grandmother, Nestora S. Escalona; maternal grandfather, Louis Zamora Guajardo, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Dominga Gonzales Guajardo; followed by many others that have passed as well.

He is survived by his daughter, Marissa Celeste Escalona; son, Marcus Luis Escalona, Jr.; mother, Josephine Guajardo Escalona; father, Jose Sanchez Escalona; brother, Frank Joseph Escalona; sister-in-law, Nora Leyda Escalona; niece, Sofia Raquel Escalona; nephew, Isaiah Tomas Escalona along with many family and friends.

A visitation for Marcus will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 3050 N Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75247.
