Margaret Sue Durbin

She was born in Foraker, Oklahoma, near Webb City, to Mae Briggs and Earl Briggs. She grew up on the oil leases of Three Sands, Oklahoma, where her father worked as an oil field worker. She moved to Tulsa in her late teens and attended church there where she met her husband, Roy Durbin.

Roy and Margaret married in 1951, and moved to Dallas, Texas. She lived in the same home for the remainder of her life there. Margaret raised four children who grew up going to church on a regular basis. She provided a happy, loving, caring and Christian home with family dinner together at the table every night. She became very close to our neighbors, the Shays, who became like family.

In 1974, Margaret attended Richland College, where she received academic recognition and was on the dean’s honor list. She obtained her AA degree from Richland College in August 1976. She continued at the University of Texas Dallas and obtained a BA in Psychology in August 1978. She went to work in the oil business working for small, independent oil companies including Stewart Petroleum and May Petroleum, where she was trained as a Petroleum Landman, specializing in Louisiana oil leases.

Margaret was a beloved member of Wilshire Baptist Church for many years, and recently attended her Sunday school class virtually. She was very sharp minded, giving and compassionate. She was faithful in her tithing, cared deeply for her family and provided for them and encouraged them, a wonderful role model.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roy Durbin, her grandson, Sgt. Wesley Durbin and her son-in-law, Hal Williams.

Margaret will be dearly missed. She is survived by her sister Marie Dooley, brother Leslie Briggs, daughter Anita Williams, son Randy Durbin and wife Carole, daughter Marie Durbin Jensen and husband David, son Devin Durbin; her grandchildren Chessa Williams and partner Tamara Baker, Landon Williams and wife Marcela, Kenny Durbin and wife Maureen, Natalie Durbin, Evelyn Durbin and Dacey Durbin; and her great-grandchildren Reilley, Caden, Alex and Tamara.
