Maria Reyes Gomez de Valdez, age 74 passed away on September 6, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. She was born January 6, 1943 in Mexico to the late Jose Gomez and Petra Gamez. She was one of eleven children and was raised in Mexico where she completed her education. Maria married Jesus Benjamin Valdez in 1974 and the couple had two children. She was employed as a housekeeper for 35 years and in her spare time she enjoyed playing Loteria, cooking, gardening, cleaning and spending time with her family. Her family and friends will remember Maria as a loving mother and grandmother who was very strict and strong willed. She was extremely generous and was always the first to lend a helping hand to those in need. She is preceded in death by her husband Jesus Benjamin Valdez; brothers Eleuterio and Fidencio Gomez; nephew Alfredo “Fredi” Gomez. Maria is survived by her sons Claudio and wife Amy Valdez, Gerardo and Cynthia Valdez, and Marco and wife Luz Hernandez; her siblings Antonio Gomez, Catarino and wife Eloisa Gomez, Juanita Gomez, Maria Gomez, Olga and husband Javier Vasquez, Oscar Gomez, and Alfredo Gomez; grandchildren Caitlyn Isabella Valdez and Elijah Mateo Valdez. She is also survived b her granddoggies Wally and Scrappy and a host of other family and friends.
