Maria Segovia was born in Ocampo, Guanajuato, on May 29, 1946. A loving and kind woman, her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was the very best mother and grandmother anyone could hope for.
As the matriarch of the family, Maria was the glue that kept everyone together. A devout Catholic, she was a dedicated member of the Franciscanos, finding great strength and community in her faith. She was a great teacher of religion and made sure to pass her faith along to all of her children. She faced a long health struggle involving numerous issues, including years of dialysis, yet she remained incredibly strong. She sacrificed a great deal and endured immense pain, never giving up until she could no longer do it, all so she could continue to be there for her family.
In her younger years, Maria enjoyed cooking for her family and tending to her garden. Throughout her life, she was a wonderfully active listener, always there to offer a loving ear, conversation, and thoughtful advice. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including talking on the phone, watching telenovelas, and keeping her husband company in their living room. Her favorite meal was breakfast, especially enjoying a hot cup of coffee with sweet bread, and she always looked forward to breakfast at Denny's.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her seven brothers.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Rafael Alejandro Segovia; her sons, Rafael, Jose Luis, Raul, and Juan Martin; her daughters, Irma, Maria Guadalupe, Luz Maria, Juana Laura, Maria De Los Angeles, Bertha, and Martha; and her brother, Brijido Ramirez, as well as many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
