Marie Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Charles; two dear sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her four children, Steven Newman & wife Suzanne, Brenda Newsome, Patricia Howard & husband John, and Charles (Chuck) Rose, Jr. & wife Kasey; eight grandchildren: Malynda Darden, Erin Roberts, Jennifer Newsome, Ashley Moore, Steven Newman, John Howard, Jr., Morgan Rose and Whitney Howard; and eight great grandchildren; one sister Lois Hampton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marie was a devoted, loving and caring wife and mother. She and Charles celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage. She was happiest when with her family and doting over her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren (affectionately known to them as Mama). She loved them dearly and celebrating all their momentous occasions.
Marie graduated from high school and her career was in insurance where she ultimately retired. Upon retiring, she enjoyed traveling with Charles throughout their life together. She liked playing weekly bingo and it was a family affair. She kept her mind engaged--there was seldom a time when she didn’t have a crossword puzzle in her hands.
Marie could always be found at church on Sundays with Charles. She loved her Lord and longtime church (Berean Baptist) where she faithfully raised her children. She had many family members at Berean, including her three sisters who spent many a Sunday laughing and seeing whom they could give a hard time. That was just one of the many ways Marie could gain the center of attention in a room. She was sharp and funny and had the best comebacks. She had a laugh that was infectious and was always smiling.
She was kind, sweet and thoughtful and had the perfect amount of sarcasm to keep things light and keep you on your toes.
Marie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, friend will be missed deeply but she left an indelible mark on her loved ones and those cherished memories will bring comfort as we celebrate her life. Most importantly, she had peace knowing she had accepted Christ as her Savior, and her eternal home was secure.
