It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Zipper on April 29, 2025.
Mark was born in Dallas to Elizabeth (“Betty”) Louise (Caster) and Jerome (“Jerry”) Clarence Zipper. At the age of 9 he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, followed by brain surgeries, chemo & radiation. Nerves were accidentally cut leaving Mark with disabled use of his left side, unable to control the left side of his face including his left eye. He attended North Mesquite High School & was involved in Boy Scouts for many years.
Mark was involved in St Pius X Catholic Church Men’s Club, Ministry of Men, Knights of Columbus 799. He walked most everywhere he went.
While walking to visit a cousin/friend who had just returned home from rehab, on Tuesday, April 15 at Cotillion & Maylee while trying to avoid an aggressive dog, Mark was in an accident with a car, suffering many fractures & severe diffuse axonal brain injury.
Preceded in death by his father, Jerry Zipper.
Survived by his mother, Betty Zipper of Mesquite; his sisters, Anna Braziel & husband Kenneth of Forestburg, Teresa Adkins & husband Alan of Mesquite, Katherine (Katie) Mawhinney & husband Chad of Columbia, MO; his brothers, Leo Zipper & wife Beth of Dallas, Tom Zipper & wife Lisa of Irving, Joe Zipper & wife Jean Underwood of Carrollton, James Zipper & Kathy of Tool, TX, Robert Zipper & wife Dawn of Pottsboro, Paul Zipper & wife Crystal of Denton, & Charles Zipper & wife Nece of Irving; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, May 12, 2025 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Sparkman Crane Funeral Home at 10501 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX 75220
Funeral will be Tuesday May 13, 2025 at 10:30am, Rosary preceding at 10 am at St Pius X Catholic Church at 3030 Gus Thomasson Rd, Dallas, TX 75228
Committal service at Calvary Hill Cemetery at noon at 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220. Lunch will follow at St Pius X Parish Hall approximately 1pm.
