A graveside service celebrating her life will be held Friday, February 5th, at 2:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.
Martha was born on August 13, 1941, in Shreveport, La., the daughter of Gerald Garlington Kennedy and Gladys Lowderback Kennedy. A Shreveport native, Martha graduated from Byrd High School and attended Louisiana State University, where she was a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority.
After her time at LSU, Martha moved to Dallas where she met her future husband, Robert Miller, while on vacation in Acapulco, Mexico.
Martha and Robert married on November 12, 1966, and were happily married for 54 years.
Many considered Martha as the sweetest, most wonderful lady with an incredibly positive attitude. She had a vibrant real estate business spanning over 40 years helping people buy and sell homes through Lou Varner Realtors, Allie Beth Allman Real Estate, Coldwell Banker and Briggs Freeman Realty.
Martha, also known as “Titter” by her Louisana friends, was quite the social butterfly. She loved spending time with her 59ers (friends that she went to elementary school with all the way through high school), her sewing club, real estate friends, Gunstream fishing friends, Mah Jongg friends, Shades of Green Garden Club, as well as friends in many other groups and associations.
Martha and Robert raised their two fantastic boys, Ward and Ben, in a loving Christian home.
Those left behind to cherish Martha’s memory are her husband Robert, her children Ward Miller and wife Carrie, of Glen Rose, Ben Miller and wife Julia, of Dallas, and four wonderful grandchildren; Orrin Miller, Mignon Miller, Jack Miller, and Madeline Miller.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gerald “Jerry” L. Kennedy.
The family would also like to thank Dr. John Pippen, M.D. for his years of care.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at komen.org or the American Cancer Society.
