Martin Erwin Shosid, 88, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2021. Martin was born to Tessie and Myer Shosid in Sherman, Texas, on November 1, 1932. He graduated from Sherman High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. When his father unexpectedly died in 1950, Martin returned to Sherman to run the family's business, Eastern Iron and Metal Company. Martin subsequently relocated to Dallas where he pursued a career in real estate and investments, but his heart never left his beloved Sherman. Martin and the love of his life, Rosalyn, created a wonderful, close-knit family. Despite that his five children all attended The University of Texas, he remained a proud Sooner. He enjoyed family and friends, a round of golf, the Dallas Cowboys and a vodka tonic in the evening before dinner. He was active with the National Kidney Foundation for years. He was a lifetime member of Temple Emanu-El. In addition to his wife, Roz, Martin is survived by his children, Larry Shosid and wife, Nancy, Karen Weinreb and Susan Bendalin and husband, Ken. Grandpa Martin's greatest joy was his close relationship with his eight grandchildren: Zach Weinreb (wife, Jackie), Carly Weinreb (fiance, AJ Finer), Kyle Weinreb, Weston Shosid, Abby Shosid, Molly Bendalin, Katie Bendalin and Jack Bendalin. He is preceded in death by his daughters, Marilyn Shosid Freed (husband, I.D.) and Carol Shosid. In addition to a private graveside service, a memorial service and minyan honoring Martin's life will be held virtually with details to be provided by Temple Emanu-El. Memorial contributions can be made to Temple Emanu-El, Dallas.
