

Martin Zagurski was born April 3, 1936 in Belfield, North Dakota. The son of John and Christine Zagurski, he grew up on the family farm in the Gorham area of North Dakota. Martin attended the country school in Belfield (Gorham area). After his primary school years Martin attended high school in Williston, ND and was a standout in gymnastics and a lettermen in Hockey. After high school, Martin attended St. Martins University for 2 years before joining the Army and serving in Korea. When his military services were fulfilled he returned back home and started his family life, marrying Leota Hannegrefs. Together they started their family in Williston, ND and then moved to Dallas, TX where they raised their five children. During this time Martin spent time fixing up cars, boats and motorcycles. He then moved that passion to airplanes. He purchased a Cessna 172, became a general aviation pilot, a lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol and spent countless hours flying his plane. He and his wife flew recreational almost every weekend to fly in luncheons and short and sometimes not so short vacation trips. All the while they spent countless hours with their children and grandchildren.
Martin and his wife were members of St. Pius X Catholic Church and became very involved in their activities. As time moved on they joined the over 55 club at the church and participated in the functions and charities associated with that group.
Martin passed away on Easter Sunday April 9, 2023 at home with his wife. Martin is survived by his wife Leota and their children; Mark and his wife Margaret, Greg and his wife Regina, Patrick and his wife Kelly Ann, Mike and his wife Dawn and Connie and her husband David. His grandchildren include John and his wife Haley, Samantha, Kyle, Matthew and his wife Mikayla, Christopher, Katy and her husband Daniel, Sarah and Nathan as well as his great grandchildren Camille, Madeline, Audrey and Lilly. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and his two older brothers Ted and Dave.

A visitation for Martin will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, Texas 75220. A mass of Christian burial will occur Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson Rd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A reception will follow at 11:00 AM at St Pius X Catholic Church.
