

Mary Louise Alexander, age 92, passed away peacefully in her home on August 12, 2025. Born on July 30, 1933, in Dallas, Texas, Mary was the eldest of eight children born to Cecil Clennon Bell and Eva Mae Parish during the Great Depression. Despite the challenging times, Mary brought immeasurable love and joy to her family from her earliest days.
A gifted student, Mary graduated from Booker T. Washington High School at the remarkable age of sixteen, demonstrating the intellect and determination that would define her throughout her life. She furthered her education by attending El Centro College, always committed to learning and growth.
Mary united in marriage with Leonard Leon Alexander, and together they were blessed with two children: Anthony Tremayne Alexander and Cynthia Alexander. Through her children, Mary began sharing her wisdom, love, and invaluable life lessons that would be passed down through generations.
Mary’s professional career was marked by exceptional dedication and service at Medical Arts Hospital. Beginning as a shift supervisor at their downtown location, she rose through the ranks to become Director of Food and Nutrition Services. Her colleagues knew her for her “can-do” attitude and remarkable ability to turn frowns into smiles. Mary treated everyone with genuine care and respect, recognizing that physicians, patients, family members, and fellow employee-owners were all valued members of the community she served.
Her commitment to Medical Arts Hospital was extraordinary. Mary was there from the very beginning, even helping to carry furniture into the facility during its establishment. This dedication was recognized through numerous honors, including Employee of the Month and the prestigious Employee of the Year award in 1991. She received multiple awards throughout her distinguished career, a testament to her exceptional service in nutrition and dietary management. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary will be remembered as a woman of faith, compassion, and nurturing spirit. She was a devoted Christian who spent countless hours at church, always acknowledging God’s presence in her life. As a member of New Jerusalem Institutional Baptist Church for over 20 years, she served as the superintendent of Sunday school, senior cook in the kitchen, and faithful choir member.
Mary exemplified grace, kindness, and strength throughout her 92 years. Her gentle spirit touched countless lives, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Cecil Clennon Bell and Eva Mae Parish; her brothers and sisters Lloyd Gene Bell, Harry Bell, Barbra Wade, Helen Wilson, Michael Don Randon, and Daniel Wayne Randon; and her beloved son Anthony Tremayne Alexander, who was called home to be with the Lord.
Mary leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory. She is survived by her devoted daughter Cynthia Alexander Wynn and her husband James; her daughter-in-law Sonya Alexander; her brothers Reverend Sheffield Clennon Bell and Christopher Bell; and her sister Rebecca Lynne Jones and her husband Franklin.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Terrence Glenn Alexander Sr. and his wife Diane, Tamara LaShun Davis, and Carla Renae Greer and her husband Darrel; her great-grandchildren Krystle Denise Jones, Terrence Glenn Alexander Jr. and his husband Mauro, Uniko Montrel Wright, Alexis Nicole Alexander, and Jalon Glenn Alexander and his wife Audrey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
