Mary Davaloz, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2016. She was born on August 25, 1930, in Lockhart, Texas, to Felipa and Roman Cantu. Mary was married on May 14, 1949, to Tony Davaloz. They were married for 66 years and raised five children: Martha Nethery (Clifford), Vertilia “Byrd” Flippin (Wes), Steve Davalos (Stella), Roman Davaloz and Marianne Davaloz (Frank Long); including seven grandchildren: Shellie, Tony, Daniel, Jessica, Kara, Nathanael and Stephen; and seven great-grandchildren: Zane, Jordan, Joshua, Aiden, Oliver, Matilda and Penny Jane. Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing/quilting, flea markets, antique stores and cooking. She made the best tortillas. She always enjoyed the company of family and friends, and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. Mary also enjoyed escorting her family and friends in going out to eat, and had an incredible knack of mailing out birthday cards and special occasion cards to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
