Mary Ann was a devoted wife, an exceptional mother, a proud grandmother, and a woman of deep faith who loved Jesus wholeheartedly. In her final years, she faced significant health challenges with remarkable strength and courage.
For more than 30 years, Mary Ann felt privileged to serve as a family therapist and counselor. Through her volunteer work with the Junior League of Dallas, she played a key role in establishing a lasting partnership with the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas. Early in her career, she taught preschool at her aunt’s respected Mary Boswell School and later taught elementary school in inner-city Denver, Colorado, while her husband, Mike, was stationed there as an FBI agent.
Mary Ann was an active member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and deeply involved in numerous civic and social organizations, including the Junior League of Dallas, The Dallas Woman’s Club, The Dallas Garden Club, Crystal Charity Ball, The Forget-Me-Nots, The Tuesday Garden Club, the Mary K. Craig Class, and Issues and Interests. She also served on many boards and committees over the years, including as a board member of Denton Family Companies. Mary Ann never met a stranger and had a genuine love for people.
This June would have marked 62 years of marriage for Mary Ann and Mike. She is survived by her devoted husband, Mike Denton; her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Denton Evans (Will), and grandchildren, Collins Meier and Elizabeth Ann Meier; and her son, Michael Denton, Jr. (Maryann), and grandchildren, Barrett Denton, Madeleine Denton, and Natalie Denton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Ann’s honor to the Pastoral Counseling Center Dallas, the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas, Park Cities Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice.
