

Max Logan Hurst peacefully passed away on Nov. 9, 2016 at Denton Regional Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Abilene, TX on June 19, 1954 and graduated from Abilene High School. He attended Lon Morris College, Hardin-Simmons University, and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Max was known for his vibrant personality, witty sense of humor, and high intellect. He was a brilliant actor, winning numerous awards in his younger years. After his theatre days, Max became a skillful massage therapist with a healing touch. His was loved and will be missed by all whom he worked with. He had a passion for music (with a special love of the Beatles) and was a voracious reader. His interest in theology, philosophy, and spirituality guided his life and he loved to share his wonderful insights with those around him. He was a devoted practitioner of Zen-Buddhism for over 25 years. There was no topic that did not interest him and that he could not discuss at length.
He will be greatly missed by son Julian Bailey-Hurst and fiancée Samantha Preisser of Dallas, TX., father Tommy Hurst and wife June of Bella Vista, AR., sister Jana Cox and husband Gary of Dallas, TX., sister Julie Malcolm and Husband Steve of Santa Fe, NM., son Ian Lash and wife Elizabeth of NJ and their children, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Janice Rutledge Hurst, grandparents Buster and Louise Hurst, and grandparents Edgar and Lois Vest.
